12 Months of Dates

Last year for Valentines Day, money was a little tight. We were planning a wedding and our big move to Texas. I decided to make Rob a gift. That gift was a simple box that contained 12 little pieces of paper. The goal, Rob was to write 6 date night ideas and for me to write 6 date night ideas. One for every month of the year. Well, we never got around to it last year so I decided to start it now. Last night, we both wrote out our dates and sealed them in an envelope. Each month we will pick one date night and plan it. To make it more memorable, I decided that we will take a picture of our date night and add it to the box. Hopefully, we will be able to do this for many years and have a wonderful box of photos that represent our love. I've heard many people say that it is always important to date your spouse and that is what we will do! :)

Here it is, our date night box!!

This is the box we're using. Just a simple photo box from the craft store. I decorated the lid just a little to make it personal for us.

The letter I wrote to Rob explaining what the purpose of the gift is.

After some much thought, here are our 12 date night ideas. Rob did 6 and I did 6. They're folded up so when we draw one, we can't see which we are picking.

I placed them in an envelope just for dramatic flare and so that they weren't just scattered around the bottom of the box.

*******I've made a change to how we're holding onto our date night photos and I'm really excited about it.

I bought this photo album/scrapbook thing a few years ago from the Target dollar section and it has just been sitting in my crafts area. I decided what better use for it than using it for our date nights?!

So I added a cute little pocket to each layout to put in our date night paper that we draw. I also added a napkin from date night one because Rob really wanted to add it to our memory box. I haven't add the picture yet but it'll go on the page with the napkin.

Here's the inside of the pocket! I'm so excited that we have a book now to keep everything in!!!!

 January Date Night
Our 1st date night that we will be taking......................................................................................
...................................................................................................................................................................................

First date night comes from Rob. "Get dressed up and go to The Cheesecake Factory".
I always tell Rob that I want to dress up all fancy like for a date but we never do. Now we have to!!!

Date night will be this Saturday. (Rob decided we should draw one about a week before the actual date just in case we have to plan something. Plus, it's always fun knowing that you have a hot date for the weekend!!!)

Date One
Tonight was date one of our 12 Months of Dates. We dressed up and went to the Cheesecake Factory. We were so full from dinner we ended up bringing our cheesecake home and renting Looper.

Here we are all dressed up and ready to go out. Had to get a smooch in!

Eating dinner on the patio of the Cheesecake Factory. First date that we've ever sat next to each other instead of across from each other. I'm now a fan of sitting this way (we also set a trend at the restaurant.)

Dessert brought home. Rob had pineapple upside down cheesecake and I had Kahlua cocoa cheesecake. Yum yum.

February Date Night

Our second date night will be.................................................................................................

Second date night was my idea!!! Take out and board games!! I love spending time with Rob where we do kid like things like playing board games. No idea on what take out yet; we have a few weeks to decide that!

Date night will be Saturday, February 9th. I love having something so fun to look forward to!!

DATE NIGHT 2
Last night was our 2nd date night!! We went and got Panda Express as our taken out (I have yet to like any Chinese food delivery place down here, they don't know what they're doing when it comes to food it seems like.) I had my normal honey walnut shrimp and orange chicken (both sooooooo yummy) and Rob had Beijing beef and orange chicken.

While we ate, we played card games. Even though it was suppose to be board games, we found card games to be more fun for two people and I figured as long as it was us time not watching the TV I was fine with it.

Here we are, sitting on the floor ready to eat and play games!!!

My fortune cookie....I had some theories on what I thought this meant.

Rob's fortune cookie. He was hoping that this meant he would win a lot.

My husband and I are very competitive and are not fans of losing. These are our score sheets for the night. Very close in all the games. Our night was full of lots of laughter, cursing when one of us was losing, and attempted poker faces (mine needs some work).

All in all, it was a fun night of Uno, Phase 10, Battle of the Sexes, and Pass the Popcorn. No matter who won or lost, it was fun to spend time together where we didn't have to be serious at all. (I do think that I won over all by one game if you look at who won what all night... :D)

And guess what?! We picked our March Date Night to end our February Date Night!!!

March Date Night

Our third date night will be..............................................................................................

Bowling!!!!! Another date night suggested by me. Rob and I love bowling (he used to be on a team and is really good while I'm lucky to break 100 most days). I'm sure the night will be full of laughs and me yelling that I broke a nail!! Date night will be March 16th so it doesn't interfere with his birthday weekend or Easter weekend. Super excited!!!

Date Night 3
So tonight was our 3rd date night which was bowling. Who doesn't love bowling?!

So since it was just bowling and nothing to do with food, we decided we would go to Panera first for a linner (lunch and dinner) since it's right next door to the bowling alley. Well, on our way to our car in the apartment parking lot, I saw this guy on Rob's tire:

I've never seen whatever he is...I think he might be a really big moth but I'm not sure. But check out his color and spots! So cool. I might have to look up what he is!

Anyways, so we went up to Panera and got some food.

I wanted a picture just to document everything we did today. :)

And then we eventually made it to the bowling alley. It was so much fun. For 2 hours of bowling, for $17 each, we got 6 games in. Well, pretty much 6 games, we were 1 frame short of our last game. Don't know why they just couldn't have given it to us.

On the left is Rob bowling. He won pretty much every game. On the right is me bowling. I lost pretty much every game...

Except for one game! I beat Rob 126 to 89!! I had to get a picture just so he would never forget I once beat him! LOL

All in all, we had a blast bowling together. I love getting to spend time with Rob where we can talk, laugh, and just be ourselves. And yes, we were the couple that slapped each other's butts and kissed each other pretty much every time the other was finished bowling. Hahaha

After bowling, we decided to stop by Red Box and grab a movie since it was only about 7 or so in the evening.

Rented Taken 2 which turned out to be a great movie. I loved the first and glad the second movie didn't suck since the original was so good.

Now, Rob and I are just hanging out and enjoying our evening together. Even though he's watching the UFC fights right now, I'm pretty sure bed is in our near future.

And, just like we do to end every date night, we picked our next date night event!!

April Date Night

Our 4th date night is going to be..................................................................................

Rent 2 movies, he and she, eat candy and fountain pops. Popcorn optional.

This one was one of Rob's date night ideas. Looking forward to our next date night like always. It'll be nice to have another date night where we don't actually have to leave the house but can stay home, relax in PJs, and enjoy each other's company. Maybe I'll be able to talk him into pizza or Chinese delivery...Next date will be April 13th!

Date Night 4...
Friday night was our 4th date night. We did it on Friday this time because we had other plans on Saturday when we would normally do our date.

I was going to make Chinese takeout but decided we had some left over Tex-Mex mac that we needed to finish from the night before we should eat instead. Rob stopped and got the movies and the drinks on his way home.

Always love having an at home movie night. Rob's movie was Zero Dark Thirty (which we didn't actually watch until Saturday) and my movie was Rise of the Guardians. It made us cry. We also had candy to go with the movies and fountain pops.

The night was short because we were both tired. After the first movie, we went to bed. And, although we planned on it, we didn't have popcorn. After dinner and our candy, popcorn just was too much.

A good evening. Always ready for our next date night. I think I'm going to fight to keep them on Saturdays because I don't like Rob coming home from work and then having date night. I prefer him to be home and then we have date night. He tends to be less tired that way.

I'll come back to post what our May date night will be. It'll be a big month for us! We'll be celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary and having a date night! I made sure that the two were seperate. :)

May Date Night

Our 5th date night was.........................................................................................................

To go putt putt golfing!!!! Rob and I love putt putt and try to do it when we are somewhere new. It also worked well that he had a Groupon to go to Monster Mini Golf.

The coolest thing about this place is that it is inside where there is some lovely AC!!!

It also is all black lights!! We made sure to wear a lot of white so we would glow.

Here's the Mr getting ready to golf...

And the Mrs...

They had some really cool/cute artwork up on the walls. This is Robocop with a cowboy hat.

This monster guy was super cool. He moved and talked.

And this was how the mini golf ended.

Not sure if you can read it but Rob won. Shocker... But I won a free game because I lost.

Afterwards we went and got lunch at Freddy's. Another great date!!

June Date Night

Our 6th date night was...........................................................................

We got to fly kites!!!!! I had never flown one before other than a really crumby one I made in school that never caught air. I got a Disney princess one and Rob got a Spiderman one.

So, as normal date nights/days go, it was planned for a Saturday. Well, by the time we got outside, it was super hot outside.

We walked around the park we thought would work, became frustrated when there was no open area with grass that wasn't over grown, and then gave up because it was too hot.

We got back in the nice air conditioned car to think about what our next step was...

We went bowling on base!!

I think I might have won game that day...If not, I know I came close to it. Rob is by far the better bowler.

So on Sunday, we woke up and decided to try again and to try a different park.

After walking through the entire park, we found a soccer field that was not being used. We could finally get our kites out!!!

Check out my super awesome kite!!

Rob flying his kite.

His and her kites.

It was a fun day of kite flying. It lasted long enough which I think was maybe an hour or so. Once the sun came out it became too hot again. Hopefully we will be able to use them again!

July Date Night

Our 7th date night was.....................................................................................

Go see a movie of his choice and dinner of his choice.

I've never been to a Rainforest Cafe but remember my friends in high school going to Chicago and talking about it like crazy. As soon we saw we had one here in San Antonio, we knew we wanted to go.

We were seated next to a Gorilla. He was really annoying when he went off like every 10 minutes.

I got a drink. Why not? It was date night.

My super cute husband.

Me.

While we were waiting for our food (which really wasn't that great and was way overpriced), they had people walking around taking pictures. We checked it out when we were done eating and decided to buy a copy. I'm a big fan of how cute my husband is in this picture.

We had to get a picture together with the river behind us since we were on the Riverwalk.

Up next was the movie. Since we were downtown, we went to the AMC theater at the mall which I complained about in a previous post because the seats were crap. Well now, the theaters have love seats that recline. It makes it really nice for cuddling during the movie. Rob really likes the seats so that is now his preferred theater.

We ended up seeing Pacific Rim. When we first saw previews for it around Christmas, we made fun of it and said it was just Power Rangers for adults. We were wrong, it was actually pretty good.

Here we are, cuddling!!!

And we picked our last date night that we get to do while we are here in Texas!!!!

August Date Night

Our 8th date night was..................................................................................................................

How nice since I had to do his choice of dinner and movie before! LOL

Dinner of my choice was The Lion and Rose restaurant. It truly became one of our favorite places. I could go for some bangers and mash again!

My honey and me. It started raining like crazy when we finally made it here but it was still a great time.

Had to get a drink. Love a chocolate-tini

Movie of my choice was 2 Guns with Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington. It was the last time we got to go to the Alamo Drafthouse. I was also looking forward to some Princess Bride wine but was extremely sad to see they no longer carried it.

One last photo for our date night!!

September Date Night

We ran out of time in the month of September to do our date night so we pushed it back and will be combining September and October into one date.

Separate posts will stay be made just to keep the flow of the page. Date night is this week so hopefully I'll get to post this week as well.
