Our 1st Anniversary

Friday May 24th, 2013
The day before we left for our anniversary weekend in Corpus Christi, Rob and I went and got pedicures. He had never had one before and I was able to talk him into it. As our luck would have it, at that exact moment, a monsoon hit San Antonio. Ok, maybe not literally but I have never seen rain come down this hard and this fast.

Even though we were soaked, we still looked cute.

The rain did not stop. It continued raining like crazy. It was raining so bad that the highway we needed to get out of San Antonio was flooded. We had to take a detour that took over an hour when it should have taken us between 5 or 10 minutes. But eventually we made it out and were on the road to Corpus Christi.

A classic foot picture while it rained.

My cute husband driving. Pretty sure the rain ended by then.

Sami and Jags enjoying the bed at the hotel. My dogs love hotels.

Our first stop was to the USS Lexington. If you are ever in the Corpus Christi area, you need to go. The ship is pretty much totally open for everyone to walk through. It's a self guided tour but worth every penny (and it really isn't that many pennies when you think it is a huge tourist location).

Rob taking some pictures at the top of the ship. It was so breezy, a lady's dress actually flew up. I was afraid someone would be blown over board.

After the ship and a brief walk on the beach, we went and had some dinner at Blackbeard's.

(For some reason my pictures won't let me change the size, deal with it until I figure out to fix it) This is me at Blackbeard's eating some calamari. It was possibly some of the best I have ever had.

Our actual one year anniversary!!!!! We wanted to keep our plans simple for the day of because our big goal was to have a nice dinner to actually celebrate.

The first thing we did was head to the Texas State Aquarium. Although it was cute, it is not worth the money you pay to get in! I couldn't imagine taking a family there. I think we made it through in less than an hour and that was mostly because we waited for the dolphin show.

Waiting to go into the Aquarium.

After that, we went to the beach. It was so beautiful looking out and seeing nothing. Also the first time Rob and I have ever been at the beach together.

My cutie.

Ending our morning at the beach. Wearing our new Corpus Christi shirts.

Our 1 year anniversary dinner at Niko's Steakhouse. I would have enjoyed going back to Blackbeard's more. Not a huge fan of the food.

Our last stop on our anniversary weekend: South Padre Island. It costs to get to the property because it is a National Park but you will not regret it!!!! If you happen to be in the military you do get in for free, which we did. The beach was so clean and peaceful. Rob and I picked a spot where we could let the dogs run free. We did leave them on their leashes so if we needed to grab them (like when people walked by) and when we were out in the water just in case something happened.

I've never been in a relationship while at the beach so I had to do this. Plus, it was our anniversary weekend so it had to happen.

Another bonus to our weekend, on Saturday, my best friend got engaged. I had to leave a note to her and her fiancee. Can't wait to see the ring in person when we get back to Indy.

Sami lived up to her breed and loved the water. I can't wait to take her again.

Another beautiful feet shot. I loved watching the waves come in.

Family portrait in shadows. I love how you can see Rob, Sami, Jags, and me.

1 Year of Morrow Love.
Our first time watching the sunset together. Such a great ending to our first year of marriage.

I decided it would be a fun tradition to record us talking about our anniversary. Here is our first video!

This is how we ended our night when we got back to the hotel from the beach. Super yummy dessert and a bottle of wine (we were given the same wine on our wedding day, I think it might be tradition now).

We left Corpus Christi early in the morning. Nothing happened so I didn't take any pictures...

Being in Corpus Christi was the best time I have had in Texas. I am so glad we went there for our anniversary. Can't wait to see what our 2nd year of marriage brings and how we celebrate on May 26th, 2014.

Oh, I forgot to add our gifts!!! The first year of marriage is paper.

This was my paper gift to Rob: an exploding box with memories from our 1st year. Also gave him a plaque that I made which had two spoons on it and said "Spooning since 2012". It's packed up or else I would have taken a picture of it.

This was his paper gift to me: coasters with our wedding photos on them. He also got me a ring for my right had that has his birth stone and my birth stone.

Slacking on my posting

I've realized I have done a horrible job of posting recently. Nothing really seems to be happening.

This week has been emotionally challenging for me. Earlier in the week, I started getting emails from companies and free products in the mail because today, April 7th, should have been our first due date. It's crazy how quickly something can totally tear you up! Like today, Rob had to go to the Army hospital for flag detail and I went with him so we could get dinner afterwards. Well, as I'm sitting there waiting for Rob, they stop the normal music they play with a snippet from a nursery rhyme to announce a baby had been born. I almost started crying! It's hard to believe that I should have a baby right now or at least be freakishly close to having a baby. One more "should have been" due date in May and then hopefully no more for us only actual due dates.

Yesterday I was sick all day. Rob did a great job taking care of me. I love spending time with him even if we never get off the couch. We watched TV, movies, played Draw Something, and then NCAA final four games. A very relaxing day.

Today, Rob kept me busy. He went and got me Cinnabuns for breakfast which was amazing. After that, we went shopping. I got some new clothes for our anniversary vacation! New swim suit, skirt, shirt, and sun glasses. So ready to start packing! After that, we came home and relaxed for a few before we went down to Ft Sam for flag duty. Eventually we got to go to dinner at Bun n Barrel which was delicious! We found them on Diners, Drive ins and Dives. They have the best beef brisket! We will be going back! The night was finished with some Orange Leaf froyo and Wrestlemania. All in all, my mind was kept busy so I didn't have too much time to sit and think.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!! Next weekend is our next Date Night which always means exciting times for us!!!

Summer fun

We are now 52 days out from our anniversary vacation! I'm very excited to be planning our vacation that we will be taking together to celebrate our one year anniversary. Today I've been looking up clothes to buy for Rob and I (I'm hoping to get him into little bit more stylish spring wear). I'm also looking for a new bathing suit so I can actually feel comfortable at the beach. I found a cute retro one piece that is really cute!

On top of all that I've been looking for hairstyles and make up styles that I could wear when we're down in Corpus Christi. I'm looking for an easy hairdo that I can wear all day, go to the beach, and it still look somewhat decent if we go to dinner or lunch afterwards. Also looking for make up that won't smear or that I can quickly fix when we are going out to eat. Who knew planning a vacation could be so very stressful. :) There's a good possibility that I'm the only one who thinks about all of this.

I tried to do a beach wave with my curling rod but it looked too curly. I'll continue with my braid and straightener technique. One main goal was to be able to keep my bangs pinned back but in a much cuter way than what I normally do. As soon as water hits my hair, my bangs begin to curl and look crazy. I twisted them and like how it looks. This way, I can play in the water and not look crazy. Also, keeping my makeup super simple for the beach I feel is important. I don't want to end up looking like Alice Cooper on vacation!

I'm hoping before we go I can color my hair back to blonde (my natural color). This is going to take some talking Rob into. Also I'm hoping Rob and I can go get a pedicure before going so we look awesome in out sandals at the beach. He's never had one and thinks guys don't do it. I think it's a great way to relax. Plus, it'll be something we can do together and will make us feel better.

No matter what I'm looking so forward to vacation to get away from all this hectic stuff that we've had to deal with in the past year of our marriage. And spending time with Rob is always a plus. 52 days can't come quick enough!

Vacation Planning

Coming this May will be Rob's and my 1st wedding anniversary. Because it is our first and we are down here in Texas, we decided we would go down to Corpus Christi.

Since Rob has been playing video games all morning, that has left me alone to begin planning our anniversary. We've booked the hotel room and have began exploring what we want to do. You can't go to Corpus Christi without going to the beaches, which means, this chicka needs to lose some LBS and fast!

Not like fast, unhealthy fast. Just fast enough that I'll feel a little bit better in bathing suit out on the beach in front of people. I've created another profile on Lose It! because I couldn't remember my log in from the wedding. I am determined to get back into some sort of shape and get ready for our vacation.

Rob and I have never been to a beach together before. I am really excited. We've already planned an evening picnic to watch the sunset together while we're down there!! Ehh, I am so super excited! I love vacations!!!

Only bad thing is that we will have to find bording for the dogs for a few days. I hate the idea of someone else watching Sami and Jags who aren't family. Sami believes she's more human than dog and I'm not sure what she'll do when treated like a dog. This is when I really wish we had some family around to watch them for the few days we'll be gone.

Ok, enough playing around for now. Rob and I probably need to change out of our PJs since it is almost 2 already! And, we need to head up to the grocery store if we plan on eating dinner tonight!!

Hope you are having a nice and relaxing Sunday!!!
